Goals

 

1) Promote the sport of Billfishing and have FUN each year

 

2) Support the Billfish Foundation and local charities.

 

3) Promote catch and release in Billfishing.

 

4) All monies which are not used for club business will be donated to The Billfish Foundation and/or local charities.

 

5) The club will maintain a balance of whatever is necessary to maintain the club and its’ functions.

 

6) KEEP EVERYTHING SIMPLE

 

7) All fishing will be in accordance to IGFA rules. (except swordfish)

 

Club Structure – Board of Directors

The board shall consist of no less than 12 members. The President, Vice-President, Secretary and treasurer will be elected each year by the 12 person board.

The board will meet on Tuesday of the week prior to the monthly club meeting, unless circumstances dictate a change. All club members are welcome to attend any board meeting, but will have no voting privileges in the board meeting.

Board members will be elected for 1, 2 or 3 year terms. There is no limit on the number of terms a person may serve on the board.

Elections:

- To be held in November, new officers take over on January 1

 

Club Functions

 

1)   Monthly scheduled general meetings

      -  Meetings will be held on the 3rd Wednesday evening of the month.

 

2) The monthly Intra-club tournament will consist of the weekend immediately  following the monthly scheduled general meeting from January 1st through December 31st. Fishing begins at midnight on Friday and ends at 6PM on Sunday.

    - All club tournaments are catch and release only for billfish. Tagging billfish is

       highly encouraged, but not required.    

     - All meat fish must be weighed on a certified scale.             

     

 

3) Other functions:

    Cost per person of functions will be based on arrangements.

 - Christmas Party

 - Awards Party

 - Other functions to be decided by the general membership.

 

Membership

 

The Membership Committee

 

  1. New members must complete the 3 steps below:

  1. Attend a meeting and fill in an application!

  2. Be voted in.

  3. Dues must be paid.

  4. The only exception is if they can’t make a meeting, due to other obligations, they may appoint a proxy to represent them and explain why they can’t attend a meeting. The application must still be completed and the membership still must vote. No fish will count until the above process is completed.

 

2) Adult Members are defined as those over the legal age of 19. Categories:

  1. Adult Membership.

  2. Junior Membership until the year of the 19th birthday. During the year of their 19th birthday, they will be able to retain Junior Membership until Dec 31st of that year. After their 19th birthday, all fish caught will be in the adult division. The following year, they will be required to pay adult dues.

 

3) Membership dues are due on January 1st of each calendar year.  Dues are considered delinquent after March 31st.

 

  1. Dues must be paid in order to be eligible for club functions and for catch cards to be counted.

 

**ANY CHANGES TO THESE RULES REQUIRE A MAJORITY VOTE OF BOARD MEMBERS***

At the discretion of the board, any proposed changes can be presented to the club membership for a vote, if deemed necessary.
